Reduction of network charges
1. How is the reduced grid fee structured?
A uniform federal regulation applies per grid operator to determine the flat rate. Depending on the grid area, it can range between 110 and 190 euros per year (as of 2023). The additional annual grid fee for an electric car, i.e., for approximately 2,500 kWh, can thus be reduced by 50 to 95 percent.
Module 1 combined with a time-variable grid fee (Module 3) is likely to be attractive in the future for e-mobility. The reduction is granted per market location through which the consumption of the controllable consumption device is billed.
2. Does the Federal Network Agency provide for the instrument of time-variable grid fees?
Yes, from April 2025. The mandatory elements will be supplemented by an incentive system. The Federal Network Agency has for the first time set framework conditions for a time-variable grid fee. It rewards consumption shifts without disadvantaging customers without shiftable consumption.
Consumers can save money by shifting their electricity consumption to times when the grid is less busy.
3. From whom do I receive the reduced grid fee?
The reduced grid fee will be taken into account in your electricity consumption bill from your supplier. The grid fee reduction for the modules must be clearly itemized on your bill.
4. I have chosen a module for the reduced grid fee. To whom and how do I communicate my decision?
The module selection is made either:
- When registering the controllable consumption device with the grid operator
- When concluding an energy supply contract with the supplier
If no module selection is made, the grid operator will bill the basic module (Module 1) to the grid user.
